My First Day

January 08, 2013

Today was my first day at Wealthfront. It was awesome.

Let me explain a little about myself, so you understand my full meaning. I’m a product guy (Wealthfront’s first), and product guys are supposed to understand the user and the business. Strictly speaking, we aren’t supposed to write code. Even if we’re totally uncloseted geeks.

I’ve never really liked that, but it’s been reality at some of my past positions. So imagine my surprise when I was able to walk into the Apple store this morning, pick out a machine, check out the codebase, commit a change, and deploy to production via a web interface. On my first day. As a product guy. With the encouragement of the whole company.

This breaks with convention in the best way possible. And come to think of it, that’s what Wealthfront is all about.

I’m looking forward to many more awesome days here. 🙂
